DataStaff is seeking a driven, tech-savvy Technical Recruiter to join our internal recruiting team. The ideal candidate brings a sense of urgency, sharp attention to detail, and a genuine passion for connecting great technical talent with great opportunities. Recent college graduates with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Business (Sales/Marketing) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Technical Recruiter sources, screens, hires, and retains qualified IT and engineering professionals to meet our clients' and internal business needs. This role is responsible for building and maintaining a network of qualified technical candidates, evaluating technical skill sets against position requirements, and negotiating compensation.
Technical Recruiters are expected to stay current on technology hiring trends — both globally and within their market segment — to identify top accounts, forecast opportunities, and consult knowledgeably with candidates on technical roles. They are also expected to share best practices and build lasting relationships within the technology and staffing industry.
Work Arrangement
- This is an in-house position based at DataStaff, Inc. Raleigh, NC office.
- New hires work onsite full-time for the first 6 months to complete training and fully integrate with the team.
- After 6 months, the role has the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite / 2 days remote per week, with management approval.
Responsibilities
- Source technical candidates (software engineers, developers, IT/infrastructure, data, QA, and other tech professionals) through job boards, the internal ATS, employee referrals, coding communities, local career colleges, and professional networking groups.
- Maintain relationships with approved sub-vendors of DataStaff.
- Post assigned technical positions to professional networking sites and job boards; share new opportunities with your pipeline candidates.
- Maintain an active presence on professional social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, GitHub, tech forums), keeping them updated with new opportunities and consistently growing your network.
- Manage, filter, and proactively develop a pipeline of technical candidates for assigned areas and skill sets.
- Thoroughly pre-screen candidates against technical and industry standards through phone, in-person, and web-based interviews — including basic technical/skills screening.
- Enter and maintain accurate candidate profiles in the internal ATS as they progress through the workflow.
- Schedule applicant activities and interviews for clients.
- Follow up with candidates consistently throughout the interview process.
- Negotiate salary expectations and clearly communicate candidate expectations to Account Managers.
- Coordinate and extend job offers to candidates, and clearly communicate hires to HR and Payroll.
- Develop and maintain a working understanding of employment law as it relates to pre-hire screening and recruiting.
- Gain client and technology industry knowledge through onsite meetings and relationship-building events.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong attention to detail.
- Engage in ongoing training to stay current on recruiting best practices and emerging technologies.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role is measured by key recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, candidate pipeline activity, hiring manager satisfaction, quality of hire, and offer acceptance rate. We're looking for someone who can balance speed and quality while delivering a great candidate experience.
Qualifications
- 0–3 years of recruiting experience; technical or IT recruiting experience a plus.
- Results-driven with a sense of urgency and a high standard of professionalism.
- Detail-oriented and able to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and operate with minimal supervision.
- Sound judgment of character and strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable learning and discussing basic technical concepts and terminology with candidates and hiring teams.
- Able to attend local job fairs and networking events as assigned by the Recruiting Manager.
- Able to discuss salary with candidates and effectively negotiate pay.
Preferred Qualifications
- College coursework or a completed bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, STEM, or Business.
- Prior exposure to technical hiring, IT staffing, or the tech industry.
