Job Description: Our client is seeking a versatile Application Systems Java Developer to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications, backend services, automation tools, and legacy system integrations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, full-stack development capabilities, and an ability to work across modern and legacy technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, and Perl
Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration points with internal and external systems
Modernize and refactor existing Perl-based or legacy applications into modern architectures
Create automation scripts, system tools, and scheduled jobs to support IT operations
Write clean, efficient, and scalable code following best practices and coding standards
Design and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows
Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and sprint planning
Debug and resolve complex issues across multiple languages and platforms
Deploy applications to cloud or on-premise environments (Azure, AWS, GCP, Linux/Unix)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
Maintain documentation for systems, integrations, and processes
Knowledge and Experience:
Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Maven)
Experience with Git/Subversion, Linux/Unix environments, and version-controlled development
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across languages and environments
Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines
Required Skills:
7 Years - Proficiency in Java, Python
7 Years - Solid understanding of SOAP/REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices
7 Years - Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres)
5 Years - Senior-level experience writing optimized SQL queries and analyzing existing SQL queries for performance improvements
Desired Skills:
5 Years - Familiarity with legacy system migration projects
3 Years - Hands-on experience with Perl for scripting, system utilities, or legacy app maintenance
3 Years - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
3 Years - Experience with ETL, data pipelines, or batch processing
