Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets & Cost Accounting
DataStaff, Inc is seeking a Staff Accountant for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in the Sturtevant, WI area.

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support key financial operations, including fixed asset accounting, inventory-related activities, cost analysis, and month-end close processes. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally, contribute to process improvements, and play an integral part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a hands-on approach to accounting operations and enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage fixed asset records, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation tracking
- Reconcile capital investments and related expenditures to financial records
- Support project accounting activities, including monitoring expenditures and asset capitalization
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
- Assist with inventory accounting activities and related month-end close procedures
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies while ensuring data accuracy
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and management analyses
- Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial projects as needed
- Assist with process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and data cleanup efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 2–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
