IT Support & Identity Management Specialist
DataStaff, Inc. is recruiting for an onsite IT Support & Identity Management Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our direct clients located in Graham, NC
Role Overview:
We are seeking an IT Support & Identity Management Specialist to provide advanced technical support and systems administration across a diverse IT environment. This position serves as an escalation point for complex end-user issues while also taking ownership of identity and access management, endpoint deployment, application support, system monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance.
The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with a service-oriented mindset. This person should be comfortable supporting users at all levels of an organization, including executives, while independently diagnosing difficult technical problems and identifying opportunities to improve the reliability and efficiency of the IT environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an escalation point for complex hardware, software, network, and application issues that require advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, security groups, and access controls across enterprise systems.
- Support identity and access management processes, including account provisioning, access changes, and security policies.
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and related end-user technology.
- Provide advanced support for Microsoft technologies, including Windows, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain business-critical applications.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors when application or infrastructure issues require external support.
- Provide responsive, high-touch technical assistance to executives and other high-priority users.
- Monitor systems and infrastructure, investigate alerts, and proactively address potential performance or availability issues.
- Support virtual server and infrastructure environments.
- Assist with network troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Maintain accurate asset, hardware, software, and inventory records.
- Participate in the deployment and lifecycle management of new computers and other technology assets.
- Develop technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and end-user guides.
- Create and deliver user training on new applications, technology tools, security practices, and common technical issues.
- Review support trends and recurring incidents to identify root causes and recommend long-term solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, resolutions, system changes, and administrative activities.
- Assist with technology projects, system upgrades, deployments, and other infrastructure initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and practical IT experience.
- Strong experience supporting and administering Microsoft Windows environments.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, including user and group administration.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 / Office 365 applications and services.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, application, and connectivity issues.
- Experience installing, configuring, and supporting laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and related peripherals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to work effectively with users across different levels of an organization.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative IT team.
- Self-motivated with an interest in learning new technologies and taking on increasing technical responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms or processes.
- Experience supporting virtualized environments such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell.
- Experience with system monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, or server administration.
- Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Network+, Security+, or similar credentials.
