GIS Governance Coordinator
DataStaff, Inc is in need of a GIS Governance Coordinator for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in Richmond, VA.

Job Description:
The GIS Governance Coordinator is responsible for establishing, improving, and managing enterprise GIS governance practices. This role leads key initiatives focused on inventory, workforce role and skills standardization, data lifecycle governance, and special projects. The position plays a critical role in advancing GIS-related client’s Business Plan items and facilitating consistent, high-quality GIS data management across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain documentation related to GIS governance.
- Facilitate cross-department coordination to ensure consistent adoption of governance practices.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership and governance committees.
- Support enterprise GIS strategic planning and continuous improvement activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of GIS principles, data management, and enterprise GIS environments.
- Understanding of data governance concepts including stewardship, lifecycle management, metadata, and data quality.
- Ability to manage complex projects, engage stakeholders, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Skills in research, analytical thinking, workflow documentation, and process design.
- Strong communication abilities, including writing governance documents and presenting technical findings to nontechnical audiences.
- Experience with GIS technologies such as Esri tools, enterprise geodatabases, and spatial data services.
- Experience with geospatial governance or enterprise data governance programs.
- Familiarity with transportation data domains.
- Experience developing skill frameworks or role competency models for technical disciplines.
Required Skills:
- 8 Years - Knowledge of GIS principles, data management, and enterprise GIS environments.
- 8 Years - Understanding of data governance concepts including stewardship, lifecycle management, metadata, and data quality.
- 8 Years - Ability to manage complex projects, engage stakeholders, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- 8 Years - Skills in research, analytical thinking, workflow documentation, and process design.
