Eligibility Assistance Specialist
DataStaff, Inc. is seeking a Eligibility Assistance Specialist for a 4 month contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Milwaukee, WI to support individuals participating in a community-based human services program. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, helping them navigate processes, overcome barriers, and connect with services and resources.
The Eligibility Assistance Specialist will serve as a primary point of contact for assigned participants, helping them understand program requirements, complete necessary steps, maintain eligibility, and access available benefits and services. Success in this role requires strong communication, organization, follow-through, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, professional relationships with program participants and maintain regular communication regarding their progress.
- Guide individuals through various stages of the program, including enrollment, eligibility requirements, documentation, and access to benefits or services.
- Help participants understand program expectations, deadlines, and next steps.
- Monitor participant engagement and follow up when additional information or action is needed.
- Connect individuals with appropriate community resources and support services, which may include education, job training, transportation, child care, medical services, behavioral health resources, legal assistance, and other programs.
- Identify barriers that may prevent participants from successfully completing program requirements and communicate those concerns to the appropriate project staff.
- Follow up on participant questions, concerns, and service needs to help ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with internal team members to resolve participant issues and provide a consistent customer experience.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of participant interactions, case activity, and outcomes.
- Support outreach and engagement activities and communicate relevant information to project leadership.
- Perform additional project-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or additional education preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in customer service, case management, eligibility services, social services, community outreach, benefits administration, healthcare, or a related field is helpful.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with individuals who may be navigating challenging circumstances.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
- Comfortable entering detailed information and case notes into computer systems.
- Ability to learn program rules, eligibility requirements, and processes quickly.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work onsite for the duration of the project.
Ideal Candidate
The strongest candidate will be someone who combines customer-service skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through. You should be comfortable speaking with participants throughout the day, explaining processes in easy-to-understand terms, documenting conversations, and helping people identify the next steps necessary to receive services.
This opportunity is available on a corp to corp basis or as a W2 position with a competitive benefits package.
