DataStaff, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Dynatrace Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Atlanta, GA. *This position is hybrid; the candidate's first day is onsite and onsite on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities: Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.
Monitoring & Observability:
Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.
Enable end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
Develop dashboards, alerts, and health checks to ensure system health and reliability.
Monitor service performance and availability and set alert thresholds to minimize false positives.
Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.
Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify trends and capacity needs.
Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact production.
Application Monitoring:
Use Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.
Work closely with application teams to ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage.
Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at both the application and system level.
Incident Support:
Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.
Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Identify and close monitoring gaps.
Continuous Improvement:
Enhance monitoring standards and documentation.
Recommend improvements to monitoring configurations and alert strategies.
Support integration of monitoring tools with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.
Experience with ITIL practices and regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration across teams.
Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
Required Skills:
5 Years - Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management
5 Years - Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualized environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
5 Years - Experience with scripting or automation tools like PowerShell or Bash (preferred).
5 Years - Basic networking understanding (DNS, TCP/IP, Load balancing).
5 Years - Experience migrating from Dynatrace Managed to SaaS
5 Years - Knowledge of recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, KPI; s and SLA's
5 Years - Familiarity with enterprise log analysis frameworks and tools like Jira or Service Now.
3 Years - Exposure to AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities: 1. Semantic Modeling & Data Architecture
Design, develop, and optimize Power BI semantic models using best?practice dimensional modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake, dataflows, shared datasets).
Build enterprise-grade datasets with proper relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, and incremental refresh.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to define data requirements, improve data quality, and ensure model scalability and maintainability.
Implement data modeling standards that support self-service analytics and governed data access.
2. Advanced DAX Programming
Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and tables to support business logic, KPIs, and analytical insights.
Optimize DAX for performance, readability, and maintainability across large datasets.
Troubleshoot calculation issues and ensure accuracy and consistency across reports and dashboards.
Implement row-level and object-level security (RLS/OLS) within the semantic model.
3. Visualization & Dashboard Development
Build intuitive, visually compelling Power BI dashboards that communicate insights clearly and effectively.
Apply data visualization best practices and data storytelling techniques to support decision-making.
Create interactive features such as drill-throughs, bookmarks, custom visuals, and parameterized reports.
Ensure dashboards meet accessibility, usability, and design standards.
4. SQL Development (Oracle & SQL Server)
Write efficient, well-structured SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support BI data pipelines.
Perform data profiling, validation, and transformation using SQL in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
Collaborate with DBAs and data engineers to optimize query performance and ensure data integrity.
5. Power BI Administration & Governance
Manage Power BI Service components, including workspaces, datasets, data gateways, refresh schedules, and capacity utilization.
Support governance initiatives such as dataset certification, naming conventions, documentation, and version control.
Monitor performance, troubleshoot refresh failures, and optimize dataset size and gateway performance.
Assist with tenant-level administration, including user access, licensing, and compliance with organizational policies.
6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
Provide guidance and support to self-service BI users across the organization.
Document data models, DAX logic, SQL scripts, and report specifications.
Participate in Agile or project-based workflows to support the continuous improvement of BI capabilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.
Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modeling concepts.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks.
Required Skills:
4 Years - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
5 Years - Solid SQL development experience in both Oracle and SQL Server.
5 Years - IT development experience
5 Years - Experience with Power BI administration, including gateways, RLS/OLS, workspace governance, and capacity management
5 Years - Experience as an Oracle BI developer using OBIEE Semantic model (RPD), interactive reports, and dashboards
